Have you ever swapped? It can be loads of fun or very disappointing depending on the partner you get. I have been pretty lucky, but that is probably because I am very selective with whom I swap with. Most of my swapping is done via Swapbot through private swaps with people who have good track records or members of groups I belong to. I’ve also swapped with other bloggers and flickr friends, it’s a fun way to get your hands on nifty items from all over the world. My latest package I received was cute! I am really loving the deco tapes, the large ones are great for decorating packages that are being mailed out. With the ones I have purchased and received from swaps I’ve built up a nice mini collection. I need to start taking more photos of the items I receive, I usually get carried away unwrapping everything that I forget to.

Each swap has requirements which usually include a theme, topic, and/or price limit and you send things based on the recipient’s likes/dislikes. Here is one that I sent out recently. The requirements for this one were:

Lucky Parcel in the theme of GREEN! All things GREEN!

Inside contents MUST be green.

5 to 7 items needed for this swap.

I’m a bear… I’m a container… I’m a cute bear container. I think my crocheting skills are slowly improving but my collection of “crap” I’ve made is growing as well. Tarah over at KDD has been nice enough to take this guy off my hands with a private swap. She has some really cute handmade items she makes and sells via etsy and her boyfriend makes some killer handmade stamps.

I was lucky enough to get this double sided totoro stamp in a different swap awhile back and it is awesome. I need to get some ink and start using it ASAP!

The oil will be here soon enough, it is just a matter of time… I can’t even look at the photos of oil covered animals and sludge ridden coast lines without a pain in my heart. I have lived near the ocean most of my life and watching the mistake of those who could care less destroy the fragile ecosystem we live in is maddening. To keep it simple and sweet I’m going to try and raise some money. I encourage people to find the groups and causes you like and feel comfortable with. In trying to do my part I’m going to work with some local agencies and do what I can to help. Anything I sell from my etsy will go towards the clean up efforts so I will try and get some more stuff listed. Spring has zipped by and it is nearly Summer. It feels like I haven’t had enough time for anything and I have loads of stuff I need to catch up on. As far as crafty bits go I have had cupcakes on the mind and yarn + hooks have been calming.

All geared up

Not a happy camper

The annual party theme this year was a “Mustache Bash” and it was loads of fun dressing the part. I spent the majority of the day preparing the food and was happy to see it all be consumed. I did feel there was a different tone this year compared to the others, almost like everyone was growing up and it was less about drinking/partying and more about catching up and hanging out with friends.
